However, despite the efforts, the fire grew rapidly and moved quickly towards Pentley and onto Pentley Hill.
To this end, at 5:10 a.m., a message was sent asking residents to evacuate from Nea Penteli to Melissia and from Old Penteli to Vrilissia.
At 05:13, residents of the settlements of Drafi, Dioni and Damarasi Rafina were evacuated to Marathon Avenue, and at 05:40, residents of the settlements of Dau Pentelis and Agios Spyridonas were evacuated to Rafina.
Just before 6pm, residents in the Anthousa area were also told to prepare.
Meanwhile, the Penteli Children’s Hospital and the 414 Military Hospital were also evacuated, as were the monasteries of Agios Ephraim in Nea Makri and Penteli.
16 forestry teams, 152 fire trucks, 510 firefighters and a large number of volunteers are working hard to put out the fire with the assistance of relevant agencies.
What is extremely worrying is that meteorologists said that the intensity of the wind increased significantly after 9 am on Monday, with wind speeds reaching up to 80 kilometers.
Firefighting forces are currently concentrated in the eastern region of Nova Macri, where strong and gusty winds are constantly changing the direction of the fire front, while other places are also experiencing outbreaks due to strong winds from Attica.

Fire brigades are fighting an intense battle against out-of-control fires in Attica. According to the latest police updates, traffic is being diverted in the Varnava-Stamata-Drosia-Dionysos-Pontelis area due to fires in eastern Attica.
