After the inauguration of a lily-shaped monument in Travnik to General Mehmed Alagić, the wartime commander of the Bosnian army, who was accused of war crimes against Croats in central Bosnia and died before the final court verdict against Ljuto Greda in Vlasic last weekend, the reaction among Croatians, rather than the Bosnian public, is calming.

HDZ representative club: Erect a monument to Alagic, commemorate the shame of Croatian victims in central Bosnia

Let us remind you that the HDZ Club of Bosnia and Herzegovina representatives in the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a statement saying that they “strongly condemn the opening of the monument to” General Muhammad Alagic – Lijan Luta Greda “in Vlasic, which is a direct humiliation of Croatian victims, especially those in central Bosnia, Alagic, who has not yet been convicted of war crimes, and members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including many fighters from the Islamic State. Like the groups in Bikoši, they carry out ritual murders, shoot prisoners, civilians and soldiers, desecrate the ancient Franciscan monastery in Guca Gora, and commit many other crimes “.

Refik Lendo: HDZ members celebrate Dario Kordić and other criminals who were convicted according to the law

Today, Refik Lendo, Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the generals of the Bosnian Army, whom the Croatian public considers responsible for the persecution of Croatians in Zavidovici and who is a key figure in the military structure of Alija Izetbegovic’s army, answered them today.

Lundo stated that “the press release issued by the HDZ representative of the Croatian club in the House of Peoples’ Chamber of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who tried to question the issue of the creation of a monument to General Mohammed Alagic, is a very bad attempt to equate responsibility with the war crimes committed during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina and is a lie and historical revisionism”.

“General Mohamed Alagic, with his personal example, military knowledge and respect for all the rules and customs of war, led the glorious battles of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to defend the country from aggression and joint criminal activities. Vlasic remains a permanent witness to his heroic and glorious history. In contrast to General Alagic, the entire political and military leadership of Herceg-Bosnia was tried for war crimes, including Dario Kordić, who was solemnly welcomed by the current leadership. If the representatives of the HDZ already cared about respecting the victims, they had the opportunity to show this respect by condemning the crimes of Kordić, those who hosted him and those who defended his scandalous statements. Lendo said and told the HDZ members not to respect the verdict of the Hague Tribunal or the Constitution, because they insulted Željko Komšić.

Komšić is a man of his own and in the right position

It is not unusual for Željko Komšić, who usurped the Croatian presidency, to heap praise on the unveiling of a memorial to a man accused of committing serious war crimes against the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1993 and 1995.

Respecting the principle of presumption of innocence, appreciating the fact that the person on whom the monument was erected died during the proceedings at the Hague Court, the fact that this is not a person who was convicted according to law, but a person who was legally acquitted, Željko Komšić once again showed open hatred for the Croatian people and glorified crimes against the country.

The prosecution of this specific case represents a well-founded suspicion that war crimes were committed against Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bakir Izetbegovic pays tribute to convicted war criminal Rasim Delic in The Hague

Let us remind you that already in 2019 the Federation Veterans/Warriors Department eulogized those legally convicted of war crimes against Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina and spent common financial resources on their greatness. One example was the tribute to General Rasim Delic, Chief of the General Staff of the Bosnian Army, who was convicted in The Hague for war crimes against Serbs in 1995 in Woza.

Photos and detailed media reports about it can still be found today at On the Federal Veterans/Combatants Department website At the time, a range of figures including SDA Chairman Bakir Izetbegović, then-Minister Salko Bukvarević, and others also paid tribute to convicted criminal Rasim Delic in The Hague. There was no response from the US Embassy, OHR, or other international agencies.

During the Union period, Lagumdzia financed Alagic’s defense from the budget, and later he paid tribute to Delic along with Niksic

Imposing illegal representation on the Croatian people while praising those who have every reason to suspect them of committing serious crimes against the Croatian people demonstrates the need to amend the electoral law, which is very necessary for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Denying the electoral will of the peoples of the component parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, abusing legitimate representation and then glorifying war crimes against the people whose rights and interests they are supposed to protect will not lead to reconciliation among the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This is not the first time, as previously, the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatko Lagumdžija, a supporter of the League and a champion of the disenfranchisement of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, provided funding for Alagic’s defense from the budget for the first time after obtaining approval from the deputies of the Parliament. The New Croatia Initiative and Kresimir Zubac, as well as himself and his colleagues from the Social Democratic Party, including the current Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, paid tribute to Rasim Delic. There was also Haris Silajdžić, a former member of the Bosniak Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who had hosted him in the Cabinet.
