Isle of Man Government – New report will help public track progress of island plans

The latest developments focus on key areas of progress over the past quarter

this Island Program Quarterly Report To help the public track 2024-25 Island Plan Commitments, priorities and projects.

The summary document reports on the various milestones that make up the whole of government plan.

The updates also help highlight the work going on behind the scenes to support the overall goal of a safe, vibrant and sustainable future for our islands.

The report highlights some of the key progress made over the last quarter, including carrying out more than 3,000 operations to reduce hospital waiting lists, implementing a new childcare credit scheme which means more parents are eligible for financial assistance with early education and childcare costs, and introducing further protections at three Manx fishing sites, alongside new fishing quotas which are bringing huge opportunities to our fisheries.

It also identifies progress on upcoming or completed Island Plan milestones, such as the Sexual Assault Referral Centre, which is under construction, and incentivising private investment to redevelop brownfield sites through the Island Infrastructure Plan.

For each Island Plan theme, we have aggregated key relevant announcements in one place to showcase context, impact and delivery. While some milestones have been pushed back from the original target dates, efforts continue to successfully deliver each action within a year.

“This Island Plan Quarterly Report marks the beginning of a series of consistent and transparent reporting on Island Plan work and policy. It is designed not only to ensure the community is regularly informed of progress towards milestones set and delivered by Government departments, but also to provide summaries including relevant announcements, actions taken to have a positive impact on people’s everyday lives and work being done to address important long-term strategic issues.

Our focus remains on driving forward the delivery of these commitments and delivering tangible improvements for our people, while also addressing contemporary issues and improving government services.

The first quarterly report covers the period April to June 2024 and is available at Island Project website.

The next report will be released in October and will cover milestones from July to September.
