Isle of Man Government – Can you help us improve access to mental health services for men on the Island?

An assistant clinical psychologist at the Isle of Man Care Centre Community Health Service is recruiting participants for a study that aims to improve access to mental health services on the island while informing suicide prevention strategies.

Ciara Whelan’s research aims to understand what barriers prevent men from accessing psychological treatment in the Isle of Man and how the services provided can be modified to address these barriers.

Ciara commented:

“If we can better understand what’s preventing men from accessing psychological support, we can take a more targeted approach to updating our services. I hope we can use the findings from this study to encourage more men to seek mental health support when they need it.”

Who can participate

Users aged 18+, residing in the Isle of Man, and self-identifying as “Male”

What does participation involve?

• The survey will take approximately four minutes
• No personal or identifiable information is collected at any time
• The data will be stored securely and anonymously; your submissions cannot be identified

This study was reviewed and received ethical approval from the Isle of Man Research Ethics Committee.
