The club, which finished bronze in last season’s top flight and Europa League, announced on Wednesday that its majority shareholder, the Réalités Group, was entering liquidation due to financial difficulties.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the club’s difficult financial situation had been known since last fall – when Réalités announced it would cut the club’s budget and set more modest targets due to the crisis in the real estate sector – but no one expected it to have such disastrous consequences.

The company confirmed its commitment through the 2024-25 season in November but also said it would no longer fund the team after that.

According to MTI, the French association released a statement in which it said: It immediately contacted the club to ask for details of the situation and to find a solution to proceed.

The league season kicks off in six weeks, but according to current plans Nantes will only start in the second division.

Noémi Pásztor, who is currently playing for the Hungarian national team at the Paris Olympics, is a new transfer to Mosonmagyaróvár, while Kajdon Blanka moved to Nantes from Molde Hong Kong Elite in Norway this summer.
