As announced in the release, this event organized by the “Vikonda Group” is a prelude to the 35th anniversary of the company’s activities.
Currently, Jolanta Blažytė, the ex-wife of politician V. Uspaskich, is the main shareholder of the company that organizes the festival, but before that, V. Uspaskich himself was also a former shareholder.
After a hiatus of several months, he returned to take the helm of the Labour Party in early July.
Ice cream parties are often seen as part of the party’s campaign, often accompanied by discussions about illegal political advertising.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) received a complaint about the event in late July and has launched a similar investigation into possible political advertising in the 2020s, when V. Uspaskich invited residents to the celebrations on its Facebook account.
On Thursday, days before the celebrations, news broke that the Biplan team had decided not to attend the event for similar reasons.
The artists announced the news on their Facebook account.
Performer Giordana Butkutė also announced her decision not to attend this week’s Ice Cream Festival in Kėdainiai.
V. Uspaskich did not emphasize such news.
“There is no anxiety. Not so important performers who don’t want to participate. If they are afraid of themselves, they will not bring good energy,” the politician said.
As announced in the festival program, the lead singer of the band SEL, Egidijus Dragūnas, said at the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine that Russia’s alleged aggression in Ukraine is a “natural purification of the planet”, while the Italian singer In-Grid, who according to public sources has repeatedly sung that Russia does not condemn the war against Ukraine.
ELTA reminds that after returning to the Labour Party, V. Uspaskić will lead the joint list of the three major political forces in the parliament. The party announced a few weeks ago that the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party led by parliamentarian Mindaugas Pudokas and the Remaikiai Party led by Irena Strazinskaite Glinski will participate in the parliamentary elections together with the “Workers”. The parties call themselves the “Peace Alliance”.
The parliamentary election will be held on October 13 this year.
