Ryan Haloute, the chain’s general manager, confirmed the news on Monday after a photo went viral on social media sparked a series of rumors that the island’s storms had ripped off the roof of the famous fast food chain.
Working with Barbados Today Earlier in the day, he said there was nothing unusual in the photos.
“What people see in the photos is the front roof and then the back roof, which has the water tank, the range hood and other kitchen equipment on it. People look at the traffic on the camera and say ‘oh, the roof is off’, but to us the roof looks normal,” he stressed.
During an inspection of the facility after the all-clear was given, he confirmed the restaurant was intact with no structural damage.
“Warren Shefitt is fine. I went there myself. Everything is fine,” Harott assured, pleading with the public to be careful before sending out information that could cause panic.
Dominic Chanderbhan, one of the owners of the IWCP camera that took the photo, also confirmed that there was nothing unusual in the photo.
He added: “The roof on Sunday looked no different than the roof today.”
