The Miami-Dade Police Department will host a Computers for Guns event on July 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Oak Grove Park – 690 NE 159 Street, Miami, FL 33162 (Intracoastal).
The program aims to reduce gun violence and remove guns from the streets. Computers for Guns is a community-based program that aims to reduce gun violence, provide positive alternatives and opportunities through technology, and lay the foundation for peaceful and meaningful dialogue among all members of the community.
Community members are encouraged to anonymously trade their guns for new laptops and Target gift cards. This will be a lively event with many focal points. Multiple Internet providers will be in attendance, offering free and discounted Internet rates, and other entities will provide job training, teach resume building skills, and various career exploration programs.
