1. Recognizing its glorious tradition of freedom and democracy, in accordance with Article 1, paragraph 2, of the Declaration of Citizens’ Rights and the Fundamental Principles of the San Marino Legal System, as well as Article 1, paragraph 2, of the Statute of the United Nations, in implementation of General Assembly resolutions 181/1948 and 242/1967 of the United Nations, and taking into account the legitimacy of the desire for self-determination expressed by the Palestinian people, the Republic of San Marino recognizes the State of Palestine as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and the State authorities within internationally recognized borders. 2. The Council of State shall issue a specific resolution within thirty days of the entry into force of this Law authorizing the Minister of Foreign Affairs to contact the legitimate representatives of the State of Palestine in order to agree on the text of the agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of San Marino and the State of Palestine. III. This Law shall enter into force on the fifth day after its promulgation.
