The Labour Chamber (AK) has won back nearly 44,000 euros in court from a carpenter who was wrongfully fired without notice after 35 years at the company. “The owner of a carpentry company invented a flimsy reason for dismissal without prior notice in order to save on severance pay,” AK said in a broadcast on Sunday. The employee was accused of theft.

A carpenter was fired after working for the same company for 35 years. This means that the man will be entitled to severance pay and all termination rights. “The employer obviously realized this shortly before the end of the notice period. He would not be stupid enough to accuse the long-term employee of theft and fire him without notice. The carpenter will lose all his rights,” AK reported.
AK filed a lawsuit on behalf of the man at the Labour and Social Court for outstanding claims – severance pay equivalent to 12 months’ salary, back pay, special payments not yet paid, holiday compensation for unused vacation days, and termination of contract. Compensation for the period between the unjustified dismissal and the notice period – Success. The allegations were without basis and the dismissal was wrongful. The employee received nearly €44,000 in back pay.
