Three huge bells, made of translucent white fabric, of different sizes, which you can enter to immerse yourself in as many experiences as possible and discover more about San Marino: this is the main solution developed by a group of teams participating in the competition that defines the interior design of the Titan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, a project in which each area created will offer something different to its visitors.
The idea recalls the three towers of the mountain, ranked third, proposing a route where the first bell will host a series of video projections showing the most evocative views of the Republic, the second bell a stone from San Marino to touch the end, the music played during the festival, the footsteps of walkers in the historic center and the chatter of people living in the area, transmitted through a special system.

The project, signed by Sara Manfredotti, Roberta D’Onofrio and Erica Tentoni, and entitled “Tangled Cones”, will be presented with illustrations during a ceremony on Wednesday, July 3, with all finalists reserved for students of the Design Degree Program of the University of the Republic of San Marino, in partnership with the General Administration of the Government of San Marino, for the World Expo in Japan.

“Each bell offers a series of information from a historical, cultural and natural point of view,” explains Manfredotti. The aim, continues the 22-year-old from Modena, who is in the final year of her three-year design course, is to enrich the public’s understanding by offering an exhibition space and a mezzanine with soft, organic shapes and accessible via a spiral staircase covered with the same fabric as the bells”.

In the student’s words, the competition provided her with “a unique engagement and educational opportunity. Being involved in a project of this magnitude allowed me to expand my skills, collaborate with industry professionals, and apply theoretical knowledge gained during my academic career.”

The awards ceremony will take place at 12 noon at the University headquarters in the Monastery of Santa Chiara in the historic centre of Titano. Admission is free.
