Mohammad Shakir, Managing Director of Hajj Company
The Hajj company said no one could influence the Hajj queues.
The Hajj Company’s comments come as the Islamic Ministry is investigating a case in which a person who was not on the poverty list was given a place in the government-sponsored pilgrims.
Mohammad Shakir, managing director of Hajj Corporation, said the Hajj queuing system would not be affected by anyone.
He said that all pilgrims who were scheduled to perform Hajj on behalf of Hajj companies out of the official quota of 1,000 this year have travelled to Mecca and all have completed the Umrah.
This year, Sri Lanka has been allocated a quota of 1,000 pilgrims. This year, all pilgrims will go for Hajj on behalf of the Hajj Agency. The government has reserved 50 places for the poor in the Hajj quota.
This year’s Hajj falls on the 15th of this month.
