Obstetrician-gynecologist and medical doctor Kamil Bakhtiyarov shared on his Telegram channel the rules for preparing for a visit to the gynecologist.
He saw no need to take unnecessary measures.
According to the doctor, many women remove the hair of the pubic and perineum before visiting a gynecologist. However, according to Bakhtyarov, this is completely unnecessary, because doctors do not attach importance to it. Gynecologists emphasize that the most important thing is the cleanliness of the genitals.
According to experts, when seeing a doctor, it is important not to use intimate hygiene products, suppositories and other vaginal preparations. It is best to use purified water.
This is necessary in order not to distort the test results. “No experiments are needed. Clean water is enough, there is no need to use gels, sprays, creams and other means,” explained the obstetrician and gynecologist.
Doctors point out that if women plan to see a doctor after get off work, it is recommended to empty their bladder first, shower or use unscented wipes for convenience.
You should also avoid sexual intercourse a day or two before your appointment. Semen, lubricants, or birth control may interfere with the test results.
The best time to see your doctor is the first week after your period ends. This is when the most important research can be done.
If an emergency arises, you can always contact a specialist – during or before your period, MD advises. Bakhtyarov also recommends preparing a list of questions for the doctor so as not to rely solely on your memory.
