Do some people need special glasses to see?

I think most of us are of sound mind, good eyesight and clear hearing. But when I hear snippets of conversations and sometimes read comments on social media, I am confused by the comments.

One of the comments was that the current government or the Prime Minister has not done anything for the country since taking office.

I listen to most of the news in the media and hear the exact opposite.

I heard about the investment in education, discounted cost of building materials, monthly salary increase for pensioners, and the upcoming completion of the Southern Hospital, and I kept wondering if all of this was fake news.

I began to question the authenticity of my auditory and visual backups while trying to make sense of the negative comments I heard from some people.

I walked past the community representative office and saw hundreds of parents picking up textbooks for the upcoming school term, and I wondered how much more needed to be done. I asked myself if the government of the day should be addressing all the needs and concerns of the people, and I wondered where in the world this was done.

I heard about job training, job opportunities, who is hiring and how workers’ compensation is now regulated to get a minimum wage, I also heard about grants and loans that are more accessible, and despite what I heard, there still seems to be dissatisfaction.

I often wonder if the opposition and their followers had lived in another country, whether more would have been achieved under their rule, or if the people had been given all their needs and wishes.

Is there no factual basis, and are there no available verification channels or confirming sources for all information that is controversial or considered political bravado?

In my opinion, the opportunities that exist today did not exist yesterday, and I think most of them are progressive initiatives that will grow this country.

Why the dissatisfaction? Can’t the records or history be checked to clarify or understand?

Why are there so many doubters? Why so much quarreling and discontent? Why so much negativity and distrust? Is there anyone who is responsible for poisoning the hearts and minds of so many?

Have we reached a point where we cannot make our own assessments and must rely on the opinions of others? If we happen to change governments, will existing benefits continue to be provided or will they cease as usual?

How can I guarantee a better outcome when the record I know of does not indicate it will be any better?

I have heard some talk of progressive projects and incredible spending in the past that never came to fruition, but I must ignore the present and hope that tomorrow will be better if someone is elected?

When will the brainwashing stop? When will we see the difference between doers and talkers? Are we really that gullible? Or is it just how we are? I am still confused and wonder what progress is and when will we be satisfied?

I’m still waiting for an answer…
