Dinosaurs and birds in one place! MuCi and San Cosmos Planetarium are not to be missed in September

Visitors to the Museum of Science (MuCi) have the opportunity to continue admiring the fascinating world of birds in the interactive exhibition “Flight of Birds”, which will continue in September at the TatakuaLab space. In addition, the San Cosmos Planetarium still presents “Dinosaurs, a Story of Survival”, a show that combines science and cinema for the whole family. The Textilia Complex (Gral. Santos 1030) is the center of these proposals for children and adults.

TatakuaLab’s “Bird Flight” exhibit allows visitors to explore the diversity of birds, their behaviors, and the aerodynamics of their flight. It also covers the evolution of birds since the dinosaurs and offers interactive activities for the whole family.

Meanwhile, the Holy Universe Planetarium presents the show “Dinosaurs, a Story of Survival”, which brings audiences an immersive experience and tells the story of a girl discovering how dinosaurs evolved into modern birds.

MuCi also invites all interested parties to enjoy a series of special events at the TatakuaLab and San Cosmos Planetarium spaces during the month of September. Designed for all ages, these events offer unique opportunities to explore the fascinating world of birds and the universe, blending education, art and entertainment.

TatakuaLab’s Activities

Tuesday’s macro and micro observations: Every Tuesday in September from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a space for close observation of nature through digital tools will be held to explore the micro and macro world of birds.

Wednesday Experience: Every Wednesday from 8:30am to 12:30pm, TatakuaLab offers live experiments every hour, with facilitators guiding participants through scientific experiments to foster curiosity and a love of science.

Thursday for adults: Birds of the Py de Madera – Timbó Carving Workshop: On Thursday, September 12, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, master artisan José Escobar will lead a wood carving workshop where participants will be able to create parrot sculptures out of timbó wood.

Sharing the skies: The evolution of flight in birds and bats: On Saturday, September 7 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, biologist Yanina Duarte will give a talk on evolutionary convergence in birds and bats, exploring the similarities and differences in how these animals fly.

Birds living in harmony: On Friday, September 13, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, natural sound engineer Juan Pablo Culasso will offer all audiences a unique experience exploring the acoustics of Paraguayan birds.

Dynamic Horizons: Exploring Immigration and Diversity: On Thursday, September 19th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, there will be a presentation on bird migration and its diversity, highlighting its role in global biodiversity.

Pens and brushes. Birds in watercolor: On Friday, September 20th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, art and nature lovers will be able to explore the beauty and diversity of birds through this watercolor painting workshop.

Flying needle: embroidering birds: On Friday, September 27, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, there will be an embroidery workshop where participants will be able to create pieces inspired by the natural wealth of Paraguayan birds.

Science Explorers: Math Club and Chemistry Club: Youth ages 12 and up will be able to explore how these sciences are intertwined with the natural world in math classes Sept. 12-26 and chemistry classes Sept. 27 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Botany and Ornithology – Paraguayan Biologists’ Day: On Sunday, September 22, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, we will explore the co-evolution between plants and birds and its importance in healthy ecosystems.

Events at the Saint Cosmos Planetarium

International Moon Observing Night: On Saturday, September 14, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, there will be a lunar viewing event open to the public, providing a detailed view of our natural satellite.

Star Chaser: On Saturday, September 21, the ALDA Foundation will host an Art Intervention at the San Cosmos Planetarium in two sessions: 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm. This event is an opportunity to explore the connection between art and astronomy.

A new timetable for both spaces

Three different schedules are available, depending on the needs of different audiences. For group visits to schools, colleges, business groups or universities, the space is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 8:30 to 12:30. For an after-get off work experience, ideal for groups of friends or foreigners visiting Paraguay, it is every Thursday and Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Finally, on Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, the doors are open so that families, children, uncles and grandparents can enjoy a full day of activities. The space is closed on Mondays.
