The report cited people familiar with the matter as saying that the handover is scheduled to take place at the end of September, and about 100 Chinese naval personnel have been “working day and night” in an area of the base that was previously off-limits to Cambodians.
The People’s Liberation Army Navy will also hand over two Type 056A guided missile frigates to the Royal Cambodian Navy, according to Radio Free Asia. A reporter from Radio Free Asia said during a recent visit to the area that they saw the two warships moored at the new dock, adjacent to an area being developed, awaiting their handover next month.
