With reference to the news report of 18 July regarding the failure of the Central Bank’s taxation department to disclose information on unpaid social security contributions, it is important to emphasize that Article 89 of Law 70/2004 provides that:Any type of information concerning taxpayers (…) is subject to official secrecy” that’s it”The tax authorities (…) must take every precaution to guarantee the security and confidentiality of the information they hold about debtors and their assets”.
In light of the above, the Tax Administration remains fully committed to its tax collection activities in order to protect taxpayers and the State and in full compliance with current legislation.
