Veteran politician and current Malawi Opposition Leader, Dr. George Chaponda, is set to be elected as the Southern Vice President of the new ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) by a landslide.
Chaponda is an accomplished leader with many accomplishments both domestically and internationally.
Mulanje South West legislator George Thapatula Chaponda is an accomplished politician who achieved many successes internationally before returning home to join local politics.
He entered politics from the time of the late President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika to the time of Professor Peter Mutharika and achieved many things.
In addition to serving as a member of parliament, he has also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, Minister of Education, and Minister of Agriculture.
Apart from being the current Leader of the Opposition, Chaponda has also served as Leader of the House of Representatives.
It is because of these achievements that delegates to the upcoming DPP congress in the coming days have agreed to appoint Dr George Thapatula Chaponda as the Southern Vice President.
Since he assumed the office of Vice President of the South, the DPP in the region has been functioning well and making great progress, leading Dr. Chaponda to be known as the bulldozer of the region.
Although his rivals have been trying to demonize him, delegates to the convention are sure that any kind of propaganda against Dr. Chaponda may not work but can win him votes to become the next Vice President of the South.
