Since March 2021, Haechler and von Holdt have served as joint market leaders of BCW Africa, while Songelwa has served as managing director of Hill & Knowlton SA since October 2022.

Global communications agency Burson was formed from the merger of BCW and Hill & Knowlton.

“Our new identity reflects our expertise and ambitions in Africa. It is a powerful statement of who we are and what we can achieve together.

“Our goal is to create a competitive advantage for our clients through reputation.

“I look forward to building and growing our customer base across the continent,” Holdt said.

“New Boya brings together a highly professional team, cutting-edge technology and cutting-edge creativity to redefine reputation and help our clients take the lead today and in the future.

“I am very excited about the journey ahead and look forward to creating more value for our clients, employees and African network,” added Haechler.

Lerato Songelwa: Doubt – the unfortunate consequence of being a pioneer

Songelwa said: “This is an exciting time for Burson-Marsteller Global and I am honored to take on this new role.

“I am proud of our highly skilled and diverse team of professionals who share a passion for excellence, leveraging reputational capital for our clients and ensuring growth and value creation.”

Perfect combination

The trio brings together a unique combination of experience and expertise across industries and markets.

“Bridget, Carl and Lerato bring a wealth of experience and clear vision to Boyaa Africa.

Bashar AlKadhi, CEO of Bosen Middle East, Turkey and Africa, said: “I am confident they will create value for our clients and talent across the continent, which we see as a key growth area for the business.”

The agency has three decades of experience in Africa, covering more than 50 markets.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, Burson Africa has established a network of partners across Africa and a strong local agency presence whose local knowledge, insight and connectivity are fundamental to delivering market-appropriate, award-winning, strategy-driven communications support to clients in the market.
