Belize City man faces up to five years in prison for cyberbullying and violating cybercrime laws

Tonight, a Belize City man faces up to five years in prison for sending a woman nude photos online without her consent and violating the Cybercrime Act, in a cyberbullying case. Last month, 20-year-old Brian Lee Perriott sent sexually explicit images of a woman’s breasts and private parts to another man over the internet. The woman broke up with Perriott on June 6, and two days later, Perriott messaged her using a Facebook account named “D-Juan Petterson.” The woman told police that Perriott sent her a video he had taken without her consent of the two of them in bed, while she was naked. Perriott then threatened to start sharing the obscene video and created another fake account in the woman’s name. The call center agent then continued to harass the woman and on June 27 sent her screenshots of him sharing the obscene video with another man. The woman then messaged Perriott asking him to stop the behavior, but he threatened to shoot up her house while her family was home. The woman then reported the incident to police and confirmed that the account belonged to Perriott. He appeared before the Belize City Magistrates Court today and pleaded guilty to intentionally distributing an image of private parts without consent. He was remanded in custody to be sentenced on July 9.
