Moana Pasifika has secured a major signing with All Blacks vice-captain and 2023 World Rugby Player of the Year Ardie Savea, committing to the team until 2027. Savea is an outstanding player who has represented the All Blacks 84 times and captained the team at the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the historic 100th match against South Africa.
Savia, who played for the Hurricanes and most recently for the Kobe Steelers in Japan, will reunite with his brother, Julian Savia, at Moana Pacifica. Known for his strong possession and leadership abilities, Savia will bring experience and dedication to his new club.
“I have a lot of respect for the Hurricanes family, but now is the right time to make a change,” Savia said. “The support of this team means a lot, and this is my chance to give back to the tradition.”
Moana Pasifika head coach Fa’alogo Tana Umaga praised Savea’s influence: “Ardie’s distinguished career and dedication to Pacific traditions have been invaluable to the growth and success of our team.”
