The ANIS General Assembly takes place this morning to call for the approval of the social budget and, above all, the renewal of positions for the next three years.

In explaining the work of the Assembly and summing up the six-year term on this special occasion, the current President, Neni Rossini, thanked everyone from the Board to the operational structure for the years during which great events have taken place (some even negative if we take into account the pandemic and the conflicts in the periphery of Europe), but also a great economic recovery thanks to the efforts and investments of the ANIS member companies. This work also moves towards the institutions, especially as a positive boost to the long-term negotiations of the Association Agreement, which, as Neni Rossini himself has always reiterated, “is a starting point, not an end point”. Ultimately, San Marino companies will no longer be discriminated against in the Single Market simply because they come from a third country, but as the President of ANIS recalled, they will not really compete on equal terms unless they are also equipped to use the same tools as other European companies. The symbol of this “equality” is of course the VAT, which is now considered indispensable even by all political parties and will therefore be one of the reforms expected in the upcoming legislature. Expectations and prospects were the subject of the presentation given by Professor Roberto Baratta, guest of honor at the Assembly. The legal advisors to the San Marino governments, who took turns during the negotiations, elaborated in depth on the various issues concerning companies and their operations in the European Single Market, effectively predicting the different benefits that could emerge from the “Association” as new opportunities once the Agreement comes into force.

At the same time, however, the associated companies have shown an extraordinary ability to recover and develop, so much so that despite the continued uncertainty in the markets (and conflicts in the European suburbs and the Middle East), “the economy remains stable, albeit with different performances among sectors”. This is the view of the ANIS Observatory for the first half of 2024, supported by technical analysis. And in the second half, judging by preliminary results, the situation seems to be improving.

Attention then turned to the renewal of the industrial contract, the most important in the country, as it applies to more than 10,000 workers: as is known, negotiations began in February and entered their final phase after the approval of the trade union bodies. Thus, the ANIS Congress approved the assumptions for the renewal of the agreement, which will involve salary increases and a regulatory component, starting with a validity period of five years instead of two, in order to guarantee that workers and companies will be able to plan their organizational strategies in the best possible way.

After the votes were counted, Emanuele Rossini was declared President. The CEO of Cartiera Ciacci Spa will therefore lead the Association for the next three years together with the new Board of Directors and address, together with all ANIS entrepreneurs, the challenges related to the economy and the country as a whole.
