Report: Marwa Al-Soury
Director “Zeina Hazem”, during the event of the Arab Film and Television Academy at the Creative Center of Cairo Opera under the supervision of Dr. Mona El-Saban, recounted the events of her documentary “Ahl al-Bayt”, which revolves around the situation of foreigners living in Egypt and how it affects their feelings and human conscience, which differs between the governorates of Cairo and Luxor, she explained that the film team focused the work scenes on three foreigners, including Brian Flynn, a resident of the governorate of Luxor, who was influenced by the inhabitants of the governorate to become one of its most pioneers, which was also the reason for choosing the title of the work, especially because the name is closely related to the idea of magic, which influenced these foreigners to love the country and feel connected to it, which is evident in the second character, Mark Foss, who is of American descent and loves Cairo, who begins to wander the streets. With his camera, he focuses on the Sayyida Zeinab area, characterized by its cultural monuments and people, and Katerina Verbalovic, a Norwegian artist who studied art at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her work has been shown in more than 41 galleries around the world, including Norway, Egypt, France, the United States and Estonia, such as On Caravan Gallery and Picasso Gallery in Cairo, Art East 3rd International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Texas, Gallery Sallen in Fredrikstad, Norway and Espace in Paris. Her art is on permanent display at Sharm El Sheikh hotels and Nile cruise ship Joy Cruises, as well as corporate offices in North Africa and Washington, DC.
