Isle of Man Government – Isle of Man Care Adult Residences, Units and Learning Disability Homes Visiting Policy

While we recognise that friends and family are vital supports, infection prevention and control procedures must always be maintained with the utmost care and consideration for the safety of residents, visitors and staff.

However, due to the current high levels of community transmission of Covid-19 within the Isle of Man, Manx Care Homes have stepped up visiting precautions to protect vulnerable residents and staff at all times.

All visitors entering a Manx Care residence or unit must adhere to the following Covid protocols:

1. Residents are limited to two visitors at a time
2. Hand sanitizer is required
3. Temperature measurement at the door (if the temperature reaches or exceeds 37.8, you will not be allowed to enter the building)
4. Wear personal protective equipment (medical masks, face shields when necessary/appropriate)
5. All visitors must wear a mask at all times while in the nursing home or unit
6. Completed Covid-19 Contact Tracing Visitor Form

Anyone who…

• identified as a high-risk or low-risk contact by 111 in the past 10 days, or
• Confirmed COVID-19 infection using a lateral flow test device (LFD) or laboratory test, or
• Traveled to the island in the past 10 days

…will not be allowed into a Manx Care home or unit except in exceptional circumstances, such as end of life (this must be agreed by the registered manager of the home/unit or their representative prior to the visit).

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in recent months as we have worked hard to protect the vulnerable people in our care from potential infection with COVID-19. We do need to remain vigilant and consider the health and wellbeing of everyone who lives, works and visits Manx Care facilities.

With this in mind, and consistent with our infection and prevention control policies, procedures and practices (not only for COVID-19, but also other communicable infections such as Norovirus), we may need to make the difficult decision to temporarily close doors, not allow visitors and close our doors. This decision is not made lightly and always takes a balanced approach of risk and mitigation measures to ensure the safety and health of our residents, staff and visitors.
