NOTTINGHAM, England: Joshua da Silva and Sharma Joseph combined for a brilliant 71 for the last wicket to help West Indies take a 41-run lead over England at lunch on the third day of the second Test match at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
England took four wickets and looked set to take a slight advantage in the first innings, but Da Silva and Joseph combined to take their team’s score to 457, making the match a stalemate.
Da Silva finished with an unbeaten 82, including three sixes, while Joseph hit two sixes on 33 before being caught by Gus Atkinson from Mark Wood.
The match continued and the score came to 351-5 when Jason Holder was caught by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith from Chris Woakes for 27 and Kevin Sinclair bowled Atkinson out of range and was caught by Harry Brook.
Alzarri Joseph pushed Woakes to Smith for 10 and the seam bowler bowled the first ball to Jayden Seales.
Shamar Joseph managed to complete a hat-trick but it was Da Silva who made his fifth Test fifty and found a willing teammate to partner Joseph to bring another twist to the match.
England won the first match of the three-Test series at home by an innings and 114 runs.
