Record 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic advances to second round Roland Garros After defeating the host country representative Pierre-Yugs Erber in three sets – 6:4, 7:6 (3), 6:4. The world number one defeated his opponent in 2 hours and 33 minutes.
Djokovic and Eber are meeting for only the second time, having not faced each other since 2013. The Serb has two wins to his credit.
The Frenchman fought back but it was Djokovic’s fine performance that saw him take the important points when it mattered most.
The world number one hesitated in the second set and gave up a break point opportunity but recovered to force a tiebreak.
In the second round, Djokovic will face Spanish player Roberto Caballes Baena.
