India beat South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling Twenty20 World Cup final on Sunday (NZT).
Playing in their first ICC tournament final, South Africa needed just 30 runs per ball in the last five overs to win, backed by a strong 52 from 27 balls by Heinrich Klaasen.
However, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya (who took 7 wickets between them) fought back strongly in the dying seconds to cut South Africa’s score to 169/8.
Virat Kohli scored a hundred in the first half of the tournament, which he later revealed was his last T20 international, and India were 176/7 after captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat. India won their second T20 World Cup, but also their first world title in 13 years.
South Africa were beaten once again. South Africa went into the final undefeated and looking to finally end their World Cup misfortune.
