The councillors filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Mayor Santanyi for breach of trust for allegedly destroying municipal financial property.

Mayor Agustin Ovando Espinola (ANR) reported this Friday to the Public Ministry for a breach of trust after discovering alleged irregularities in the 2023 fiscal year report.
The complaint was filed by councillors Bettina Vera, Luci Griselda Barreto, Adán Bernardo Rojas, Liliana Candia, Fredy Guillén and Lourdes Meza, and supported by lawyer Guillermo Duarte Cacavelos.
The complaint documents reveal irregularities in the management of public funds in fiscal year 2023.
In particular, it concerns the application of bank loans G. 690,754,177 and G. 360,573,501 to projects not authorized by MPs.
Furthermore, they pointed out that liabilities were not reflected in the balance sheet and expenditure was found to be higher than revenue, besides, transfers received from the central government were wrongly used under the concept of municipal governments with fewer resources.
