Andhra Pradesh Mayor Ali Nizar said the garment factory will bring positive changes to the city’s economy.
The mayor said this while speaking on PSM News’ Rajemiad show.
Andhra Pradesh Mayor Ali Nizar said he believed garment factories could be successfully operated in Sri Lanka. The mayor also said that setting up garment factories in Andhra Pradesh would create jobs for the city. However, the mayor pointed out that finding labor in Sri Lanka might be difficult.
The mayor said that with the establishment of the garment factory, the products needed in Sri Lanka will be produced on a large scale. The mayor pointed out that holiday items such as bed sheets can also be produced in a variety of products.
The mayor pointed out that garment factories have been operating in Andhra Pradesh for many years and said that international brands also manufacture in the neighbouring state.
“When we were running garment factories in Andhra Pradesh, we manufactured products for some of the world’s leading brands including Tommy’s, Victoria’s Secret, which were all manufactured and exported from Andhra Pradesh, so we can still do that,” said Ali Nizar, Mayor of Andhra Pradesh.

The mayor said that the reliance on tourism should be ended and other industries should be developed. He said that large-scale garment factories in big cities like Andhra Pradesh could be successful.
The mayor said he believed this was a very good start for the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) to reduce its reliance on imported goods and create jobs.
The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Council and BCC signed a land lease agreement on the 9th of this month to set up a garment factory in Andhra Pradesh.
BCC said the garment factory was developed under the initiative of the Department of Economic Development and Trade. With the government stepping up its industrial development, the project will also have the most desirable impact on the economy of Andhra Pradesh and the country at large.
