Determined to end the introverted cycle Nikos AndrouleakisIn his first interview After the election.

Eight days after the elections, after letting the dust of the reactions settle a little, the President of Pan-Socialist prepared himself for the questioning that will take place in the week after the elections, characteristically stressing that “I have been working hard all these years and I have always led the faction to abandon attitudes that damage our unity, our image, our common struggle. To extend the hand of solidarity, transparency and meritocracy in all directions”, and went on to point out that “I am very sad that some people did not even wait until the end of the electoral process. In other words, when the votes were being counted at the polls, something pre-planned appeared in the media”, expressing his disappointment with specific people.

Toxicity beyond PaSoC

At the same time, Mr. Andrukkis wanted to answer the questions that journalists kept asking in full, without shadows and interruptions, and he also showed an outward-looking roadmap. The institutional path that PaSoK will take is to unite again, without toxic rhetoric and division. “We will do everything in an institutional way. Whoever made toxic rhetoric, introverted and discordant rhetoric, will be excluded from PaSoK, I say boldly, as soon as the institutional dialogue and decision are over. Regarding the future of the party, we will make a decision in the Central Committee. Whoever continues to play discordant and toxic games the next day will be excluded from PaSoK”, he stressed, letting the party organs speak.

They were not absent from the discussion Scenarios that Hope Harry Ducas Will Be a Candidate. This was exacerbated by his own intervention in a Sunday newspaper. Asked about the intervention of the Athens mayor, Mr Andoulakis typically commented: “Mr Doukas’s ambitions are justified. Mr Doukas can be a candidate. I read his interview yesterday, where he talked about constant defeats. I want to tell him that PASOK has not had continuous defeats. It started with 4% and has steadily risen in very difficult conditions, thanks to the struggles and sacrifices of the late Fufi Yuannimata, me and thousands of people who stayed behind in difficult times. When I took over, PASOK faced a question in all groups: “Who will you go with”. After great efforts, this question no longer exists in public debates. So, because we built a lot of things with great effort, I will not let them be demolished. Whoever has ambitions, let him claim his presence. All ambitions are legitimate, but institutionally and politically”, he said, indicating that the days of frequent exchanges between the two are a thing of the past.

What would the dolphin say?

After the interview with Nikos Andoulakis, there was an immediate reaction from executives who had expressed disagreements with the party leadership team. Some of them reported that he threatened to delete the content to cover up his political weakness and asked the PASOK president to determine when elections would be held.

In particular, they said: “When many executives asked the party grassroots to speak, Nikos Androuliakis threatened to delete the content. His threats show his complete political weakness. Before the election, he said that third place was a political failure. Today he did not give a clear answer whether we lost. He attacks everyone and everything without a trace of self-criticism.”

The new generation also has conflicts…

While the press representative of Thanasis Glavinas declared that this chain of events was unfair to the Panhellenic Socialist Movement, explaining that Nikos Androullakis would be appointed to the Political Council on Wednesday “with courage and bravado on all issues”, another new politician, Manolis Christodoulakis, was writing a notice through which … he made his presence felt. Moreover, with this statement, the former secretary of PaSoK distanced himself from Harilaou Trikoupi.

Mr. Christodoullakis received the reaction of the leadership group in February, when he participated in a panel event entitled “Who is against Mitsotakis?” He made this intervention together with Efi Ahtsioglou and Dionysis Tebonera, asking not to waste any more time. He stressed that PaSoK was at risk of a losing strategy. Ino ended his lengthy speech with “The changes we want are here. It is enough for us to believe in it first”, leaving its interpretation and the purpose of its publication to everyone’s own judgment.

Parliament, Conservatory of Music, with the Presidium in the background

The developments in PSoK are very fast and many are waiting for the meeting between Nikos Androulakis and the President of the Party of European Socialists, Stefan Löfven, in Parliament this afternoon. Perhaps some statements of support will be issued. We remind you that the President of the European Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Irace Garthia Pereth, in an interview with Vima, when asked about the upcoming intra-party conflict in PaSoK, stressed her support for Nikos Androulakis and specifically stated that “I do not want to comment on the internal procedures of our national parties. We have a very good cooperation with PaSoK and I am very happy that the party continues to increase its share of votes under the leadership of Androulakis and that after the European elections we have more Greek members in our group”.

Meanwhile, it was also interesting today to see the presence of Athens Mayor Haris Doukas at a two-day event organized by the Alexis Tsipras Institute in cooperation with the Zoran Zaev Foundation at the Athens Conservatory. At the same event, held a day before an important meeting of the Political Council, George Papandreou also attended yesterday, accompanied by the Estonian candidate for the post of Secretary of the European Council, Indrek Saar, and two members of the Parliament of PASoK, Pavlos Christidis and Ilhan Ahmed.
