“Why did certain things happen the way they did? Why partition?” Sadhguru asked in a video on his social media account.

In a video posted on his social media accounts, spiritual leader Sadhguru reflected on the aftermath of the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan, which led to the massacre of one million people and the displacement of six to seven million people.

In this video on X and Instagram, Sadhguru is in conversation with writer Vikram Sampath. “Why were certain things done the way they were? Why partition?” Sadhguru asks, stressing that the nation needs to find the courage to face the harsh realities of its past and seek answers to these lingering questions.

He further explained that the issues surrounding Partition are not religious issues but humanitarian issues that need to be studied. “Even now, the country does not have the courage to face these issues and find answers. I feel the next generation must ask these questions,” he asserted.

Sadhguru stressed the importance of the younger generation understanding these events, noting that six million people were forced to leave their homes and livelihoods, with many still living in refugee camps 75 years later.

Sadhguru says, “If you let humanity sleep, you will forget everything. But if humanity is alive, these questions must be asked and answered — for our generation and especially for the next generation.”
