The release of Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency has been postponed. The film was originally scheduled to hit the screens on September 6, 2024.

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for her next, the much-anticipated film Emergency. The actress has been promoting the film heavily. However, on Sunday, multiple media reports claimed that the release date of Kangana’s Emergency has been postponed, possibly due to issues related to the film. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court heard a complaint filed by Mohali residents Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh on August 31. They sought revocation of the Emergency censorship certificate granted by the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) and sought censorship of the film by prominent Sikh leaders before its release in theatres.
Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal also expressed his views on the release of the film and said that the film should be vetted by SGPC before its global release. In an interview, Harsimrat said, “I have not seen the film but if there is any political party that gave the biggest fight during the Emergency, it was the Shiromani Akali Party. The late Parkash Singh Badal was the first to lead the movement and was arrested along with others.”
Days before the news of the film’s release being halted, Kagannah claimed that the film’s approvals were “stopped” because of the threats that CBFC members have been receiving.
Sharing a video on X (formerly Twitter), Kagannar wrote: “There are rumours that our film Emergency has been given a censor certificate. This is not true. In fact, our film had been censored but the censorship was stopped due to many threats. Death threats. Censor board members were also threatened. We were under pressure not to show Indira Gandhi assassination, not to show Bhindranwale, not to show Punjab riots. I don’t know what else we can show then… This is unbelievable for me and I feel very sorry for the state of the country.
