Former Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leaders Anoop Dhanak, Ram Kumar Gautam and Jogi Ram Sihag on Sunday joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections.
Earlier today, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini attended the Jan Ashirwad rally in Jind. During the rally, he highlighted various schemes and decisions taken by the Haryana government for the welfare of the people.
“Our government has decided to provide tubewell connections to all farmers, so by 2023, all farmers who have applied for a connection will get a tubewell connection,” the Chief Minister said.
In his speech, he also mentioned that the state government has decided to increase the annual income limit of the creamy layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the state from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
“On June 29, our government decided to increase the income ceiling for the lower OBC group from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. We took this decision to differentiate it from wages and agricultural income,” the chief minister added.
The Chief Minister mentioned that it has been decided to provide pension benefits to over 75,000 people in the state and to increase the salaries of all categories of government employees who have been in the government for more than five years by 8 per cent.
The Chief Minister said the government had also helped in the development of various villages after consulting with the village heads.
“We have been in touch with the village heads since July 2 as they complained that they could not use Rs 5 lakh for development work, so we called a meeting of every village head and gave them the power to spend Rs 21 lakh for development work,” he said
He mentioned the steps taken for animal welfare and highlighted the MoU signed with Medanta. “On July 11, we signed an MoU worth Rs 100 crore with the Medanta Group to build an animal hospital in Gurgaon,” he said.
Other schemes highlighted by the Chief Minister included plans to set up around 4,000 schools in the state, increase in wages and benefits of safai karamcharis and provide 10 per cent reservation in jobs for agricultural workers.
It is worth noting that the Election Commission of India on Saturday, August 31, changed the voting date for the 90-member Haryana Assembly this year from October 1 to October 5, while changing the counting of votes for the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Assemblies from October 4 to October 8.
