Portland Fire Rescue Center X reported that firefighters worked with Oaks Park engineers to rescue 28 people in distress.
The amusement park, which first opened in 1905, said staff immediately called emergency services when the ride stopped. Maintenance crews returned the ride to its unloaded position within a minute of the incident.
The Atmosphere ride has been in operation since 2021 and has never had any incidents. The ride has been closed until further notice and the park is working with the ride manufacturer and state inspectors to determine what caused the wait.
