YWCA elects new board of directors

Fourteen new members of the Belize Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Board of Directors were selected as candidates and elected to the 2024-25 Board of Directors at the YWCA Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Lurleen Betson Gamboa will serve as board president, Phillipa Sebastian Cadle will serve as first vice president, Jennifer Smith will serve as second vice president, Marilyn Ordonez will serve as board treasurer and Jenean Sabal will serve as secretary.

The other nine elected members of the board are Margaret Rose Williams, Leni Ysaguirre McGann, Sheryl Terry, Jennifer Cayetano, Bernadette Ellis, Marsha Castillo Price, Aria Sylvestre, Danae Hutchinson and Leah Enriquez.

The AGM was held on Thursday, June 27, with the theme “YWCA: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers, Enabling Women and Communities to Thrive”.

The YWCA opened in Belize in 1956. Located on St. Thomas Street in Belize City, the YWCA offers a range of services and programs for women of all ages.
