It’s a significant shift: The Polynesian delegation left Finua on Saturday for Hilo, Hawaii, where the world speed skating championships will be held in a little over two weeks, starting on Aug. 15. The 230 Tahitians will be joined by more than 3,000 rowers.
In total, no fewer than 593 races are scheduled for the V1, V6 and V12 categories.

“Our goal is to get the most medals. My goal is to be first, we are not going to be second! I was also the world champion at the age of 60 in 2018. I think we will win gold medals with the youngsters! They will be stronger this year” confided Bruno, who is registered in the 60-year-old master category.
A 40-man delegation from Bora Bora is also part of the visit and will be divided into three categories: senior men, cadets and junior men.
Hawaiians and New Zealanders have the largest delegations to these championships.
After a few hours of flight, the rowers arrived in Hawaii. The Secretary General of the Federation of Tahiti Vaia (FTV) confirmed that they should start warming up tomorrow after resting and having a good rest.
The competition will be available to watch exclusively on TNTV Live TV and online from August 15 to 23.
