The British Columbia Wildfire Management Service said crews were heading to the scene of the fire south of Mount Spion to assist the Lake District Fire Department.
The fire is estimated to be about half a hectare in size and is out of control, according to the BCWS.
“We have our response officers and initial attack teams en route,” said Shaelee Stearns, BCWS fire information officer.
“The fire was originally under the jurisdiction of the fire department, and they requested the fire department’s assistance. So, we are currently working with the Lake Country Fire Department to put out the fire.”
Stearns said the fire was a second- to third-severity fire, ranging from a low-intensity surface fire to a moderate-intensity surface fire, with occasional flashes of fire visible.
BCWS said the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Lakeland residents say strong winds are driving a grass fire near a local winery.
Nearby resident Sean Fischer said he saw about six fire trucks heading toward the nearby fire.
“There are flames right now on the mountain because of the high winds,” Fischer said.
Fischer said the fire appeared to have started between Pow and Oceola roads near Intrigue Winery.
Another resident, Caroline Dava, said she saw plumes of black smoke.
“It’s in a clearing, so it doesn’t look too close to any trees,” Dawa said.
“If the snow continues all the way down to the lake, there will be quite a bit of open space.”
This article will be updated if more information becomes available.
