Why Akshay Kumar considers himself lucky

He wants everyone to know about the historic Battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders.

He hopes that this story will be included in school history books so that children can learn about this exciting and heroic story.

His new movie Kesari Focus on this battle. Directed by Anurag Singh, starring Parineeti Chopra In cameos, the film spans two days of fighting.

What fascinates you Kesari?

First, we had a film called 300 In Hollywood, it’s a made-up story.

This is fiction, right?

The claim of 300 men against 8000 Persians is not true.

But this is a true story of 21 Sardars against 10,000 invaders.

Now, who wouldn’t be fascinated by such a powerful and true story?

Just search on Google for the five greatest battles and you will find that the second one is the Battle of Saragarhi. And we haven’t even made a movie about it yet!

Not many people know about this.

Even I only knew a few things: 21 Sardars fought against 10,000 invaders.

But when I delved deeper into it, I discovered a lot of things about it.

My director (who also wrote the film) told me the truth of the matter.

These people had the opportunity to escape and forget their country, but they did not do so. They knew they would die.

Imagine being in a fight where you know you are going to die!

I consider myself very lucky to have gotten this movie.

I implore parents to take their children to the cinema to watch this movie. They should know what their ancestors have contributed to the country.

I dedicate this film to all the martyrs in all countries of the world.

Did you actually go to your mom and seek her blessing before you started shooting?

It’s not to seek her blessing, nothing to exaggerate!laughter）

I went to show her my look and she was very happy.

She said, “Come and take a picture with me.” That was it.

Is this role difficult?

Yes. It’s difficult to shoot in that kind of terrain.

We shot in Spiti and due to the high altitude, there is less oxygen. You need at least three days to acclimate.

If you need to retake the test, you will have to take a break of at least 10 minutes to catch your breath.

In addition, the turban I wear weighs about 1 kilogram. My sword weighs 6 or 7 kilograms.

But it was nothing compared to the swords that those brave Sardars used in battle. Their swords used to weigh 25, 26 kgs because they used to eat pure ghee, while our generation eats pure steroids (laugh).

Is it necessary to shoot in a place like this?

We chose Spiti because we wanted a location that would be consistent with 1897.

We wanted hills overlooking huge snow-capped mountains.

Spiti is the only location that matches the original location.

We also built a set in Wye, but unfortunately, it burned down.

Was there a sense of patriotism when you played Havildar Ishar Singh?

Yes, the movie demands it.

I have a lot of affection for this movie.

My father was in the military so I have an affinity for anything uniform related.

Did you choose the director for this film yourself or did the director bring it to you?

Karan Johar and I approached the director.

Anurag Singh is a National Award winning director.

I know him very, very well. I worked with him when he was an assistant director.Film Producer) Raj Kanwal (Kanwar directed Akshay in films like Andaaz in 2003 and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye in 2006.).

I have known him since then.

He is a man of many things. I remember that he used to write a lot when he was an assistant.

Why do you think such an impactful story is never taught in schools?

Yes, there is no such story in our history books.

The history is so vast, but they never thought of writing this story in a book.

The British celebrate Saragahi Day. We should do the same.

I hope people will now know more about the Battle of Saragarhi.

How difficult is it to keep reinventing yourself as an actor?

It’s not difficult and it’s fun.

If I change my image it’s because I like it, not because I have to prove something.

I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.

It’s been great playing different characters all the time.

You see, I’m already scarred. When I started my career, I only did action movies. No one would give me other roles.

No one offers roles involving romance, comedy, tragedy, or drama.

I can only play action roles.

It finally changed when I got it Heraferi.Then I started playing different types of roles.

I can’t forget those early days of my career.

Before, whenever I came down an elevator, I would look in the mirror and feel ashamed because I was in a movie like that that involved action.

Then, I got the opportunity to change that and started enjoying the work.

Over the past 12 years, I’ve had the opportunity to constantly change who I am as an actor, and I’ve enjoyed it.

The body can take so much.

I am now 51. I think I can function until I am 56.
