Ngidi scored three points and the game was tied
(CMC) — Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi got in some much needed practice ahead of the first Test match against the West Indies on Wednesday, picking up three wickets in a four-day tour match against the West Indies Championship XI.
The 28-year-old went 3-for-8 in the second inning, while the home team went 4-for-4 and fell to 46-4. The final game at Brian Lara Stadium on Saturday was called off after 27 innings because of drizzling rain.

After South Africa were declared victorious at 408 for 8, they quickly attacked the champions XI, with right-arm bowler Ngidi making quick work of the top order bowlers.
In the second inning alone, he hit left-hander Jeremy Solozano (19), who had already scored six runs, but was caught scoreless, and then hit Keacy Carty (8) on a field goal to third base.
In the same innings, four balls later, Ngidi brought one back, trapped Kevin Wickham at the boundary and easily got it adjudged a leg-stop before the right-hander could score.

Trailing 3-0 at 3-0, the champions XI reeled, with the help of opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul (14) and captain Justin Greaves (13 not out), temporarily halting the opposition’s scoring run.
However, there was still time to take one more wicket before the end of the over, as off-spinner Dane Piedt had left-hander Chanderpaul sweep a low full toss to short back square.
