As the Year of the Wood Dragon approaches on February 10, Singapore will be celebrating the Lunar New Year (CNY) with a series of exciting events that reflect the dragon’s symbolism of strength, power and fortune in the Chinese zodiac.
The entire island is already buzzing with excitement as it plans to offer a variety of experiences to mark the occasion.
In the heart of Chinatown, Chinese New Year is celebrated with the theme ‘Year of the Dragon’. Stunning dragon-themed dioramas light up the main street, creating a mesmerizing spectacle from 7pm to midnight from 19 January to 9 March.
The festive atmosphere is enhanced by bustling markets open every day (until February 9) and a countdown party at Chinatown Plaza.

Singapore’s much-loved multicultural parade, Chingay, will also be held at the F1 pit building on 23 and 24 February. This year’s theme is “Bloom”. Chingay Parade There are 3,500 performers, community floats and an unprecedented 230-metre interactive ground projection, the longest of its kind in Singapore. From 25 February, the event will extend into the heart of the community, including performances and a caravan of floats.
From February 8 to 17, 2024, Gardens by the Bay will host the “Riverside Red Packet” event, which will feature international performances. A giant 140-meter-long dragon will be the highlight of the event, accompanied by the God of Wealth and a grand firecracker display. The Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay will also be transformed into “Dahlia Dream”, with a majestic dragon appearing among a row of bright dahlias.
Resorts World Sentosa also invites visitors to experience the Starlight Dragon Spectacular, a stunning 88-metre LED dancing dragon, from 10 to 13 February and 16 to 18 February. Meanwhile, the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra are planning a Lunar New Year family fun event from 26 to 28 January to bring families together.
