The famous rapper Pitbull has acquired the naming rights for the FIU football stadium in Miami, which will now bear his name. As a result, 2.18 billion forints will be paid to the university over the next five years.

The stadium renaming is more than just a name change

As part of the settlement, Pitbull will create a school song, make 12 social media posts per year, and participate in one athletic fundraiser per year. In return, the rapper can use the stadium ten times per year for his own purposes. Additionally, his vodka company, Voli 305 Vodka, will become the stadium’s official beverage brand and will provide two reserved suites for all home games.

This is not the first time Pitbull has been involved in college sports this year. At the University of Texas, he performed at a large celebration held to commemorate the team’s entry into a new conference. At this event, Pitbull and another artist performed together for 221.84 million forints ($610,000).

Pitbull also co-owns Trackhouse Racing, where Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain compete in the NASCAR Cup Series, and has interest in a new MotoGP team.

Florida International University (FIU) will spend HUF 16.48 billion ($45.3 million) on athletics in 2023, ranking 78th among the largest public athletic departments in the FBS league and 26th among the top five leagues. In comparison, the Panthers’ athletics revenue is only HUF 4.77 billion ($13.1 million).
