Vice President Michael Usi today continued his journey to the grassroots to meet the people on the ground, visiting three major markets in Blantyre to appeal to vendors to avail ready-made NEEF loans that do not require collateral.
Usi, who was wearing a Malawi Flames jersey, visited markets in Bangwe, Chirimba and Chilomoni to meet and talk with vendors to understand the struggles of their small-scale businesses and encouraged them that NEEF loans are readily available and that they should register with their leaders as soon as possible to start availing the loans and grow their businesses.
In all these visits, Usi warned traders not to be used as agents of violence by politicians but encouraged them to only ask those responsible to grow their business.
“Get organized. Write your names and give it to your market chairperson. Between now and August, you will get NEEF loan. This has been approved,” the vice president said.
The Vice President said the program will help create jobs, stimulate the local economy and turn innovative ideas into reality.
From Bangwe, Dr Usi continued to Kiomoni where he would visit Chirimba Market later that afternoon.
In Bangwe, he accused the municipal council authorities of rushing to clean up the market after hearing that he was coming, saying that cleaning up the market should be the norm and not for tourists.
