As the fishermen stepped on the accelerator in an attempt to speed their escape, the drone temporarily lost its way and veered off course.

Putin’s military relies heavily on drone supplies from its ally Iran, which has shipped cheaply produced Shahed model drones to the Kremlin.

U.S. officials have also claimed that Chinese and Russian companies are developing attack drones similar to the Shahed.

Belousov, then first deputy prime minister, said: “The annual production of drones (excluding educational drones) is planned to be 32,500.

“This is almost three times the current production. At the same time, it is planned that Russian drones will occupy 70% of the market for this type of drones.”
