Muzaffarabad:

In a tragic accident, 13 people were killed when a passenger jeep fell into the Neelum river in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while crossing the Leswabari Pass road at Deoljan in Neelum Valley, according to police reports.

The jeep was travelling from Lipa Valley to Muzaffarabad when it veered off the road and fell into the river.

The authorities quickly notified the rescue team and members of the 1122 rescue team also rushed to the scene, but heavy rains seriously hampered the rescue operation.

Four other passengers, including a woman and two children, were injured in the accident and have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Emergency teams continued to work to recover bodies and rescue the injured in adverse weather conditions.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and urged drivers to be extra careful when driving on dangerous mountain roads, especially in bad weather.
