Twelve remote-controlled drone systems The head of Ukraine’s autonomous authorities announced that late last Friday night, the Ukrainian Air Force intercepted a Russian air defense array in the airspace of the Bryansk region.

“Thanks to our heroic defenders, all air targets were intercepted and destroyed,” regional governor Alexander Bogamas assured via Telegram. He added that there were no reports of casualties or serious damage.

Vychislav Gladkov, governor of Belgorod Oblast, also a neighbor of Ukraine, said three drone strikes and shelling broke windows and damaged buildings, AMPE reported.

In recent months, Ukrainian armed forces have launched almost daily attacks on Russian border areas, especially in the Belgorod region.

The wave of attacks prompted the Kremlin to order an operation in May in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region to expand the so-called “neutral zone” and end Ukrainian attacks on Russian communities. Russian military officers assured that several of those communities had been taken. However, Ukrainian officials said the situation had stabilized.

Earlier this week, Gladkov and other officials announced restrictions on access to parts of Belgorod to prevent further casualties from the Ukrainian attack.
