U.S. seizes cocaine shipment from Dominican Republic

In a major operation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized 450 pounds of cocaine hidden in the bed of a shipping container.

The drugs were found on Tuesday on a ship that arrived from the Dominican Republic.

The cocaine’s street value is estimated at $4 million, highlighting the importance of the bust.

The seizure is a major blow to the illegal drug trade affecting the region.

After a rigorous inspection, it was found

During a routine inspection, the San Juan A-TCET Ship Search Team boarded the vessel. During a closer inspection, they noticed an anomaly within the chassis of the container that was about to be unloaded.

Later, upon more detailed inspection, 183 bricks of a white powdery substance were found.

Testing confirmed the substance was cocaine.
