In the Pomeranian village of Belaya Sruda, two schoolboys have opened a Soviet-era museum. The exhibits include many objects familiar to older generations – from movie projectors and rotary phones to musical instruments and school visual aids. Some of the exhibits were actually dug out of the ground by these guys.

The museum’s director is ninth-grader Artem Ponomarev, and the museum tour was led by his classmate Evgeny Belokashin.

The museum’s creation began 20 years ago – the first collection was collected by teachers from a local school. Artyom and Zhenia were attracted by the museum’s works by their class teacher, Lyubov Khabarova.

Students not only work at the museum, but also actively add to the collection. Artyom searched for objects within the boarding school. Among the unearthed objects were a glass inkwell, a kokoshnik, a cigarette case, charcoal iron and other objects – all traces of the past.

They donated particularly valuable items to the Krasnobolsky Museum of History, Memorial and Art, with which they work closely.

Recently, these people announced the campaign “Donate an object to the museum.” Anyone can join this initiative and add objects from Soviet daily life to the museum’s collection.
