“Our mission in this election is to defeat Donald Trump and elect Kamala Harris to build on her proven record of serving the working class,” UAW President Sean Fein said in a statement. “We are at a crossroads in this country. We can return to power a billionaire who opposes everything our union stands for, or we can elect Kamala Harris who will stand shoulder to shoulder with us in the fight against corporate greed.”
After President Joe Biden endorsed Harris, many unions, including the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) endorsed Harris. But the UAW did not take a stand.
Fein even came under criticism for saying on MSNBC that his union “is not going to rush” into endorsing Harris without the approval of its members. Previous Recognition Biden in January.
