The Oscar-winning actor will perform his new single live at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30. Smith’s song, released years after 2017’s Get Lit, is his first major musical release in years.

The four-time Grammy Award-winning rapper and actor (55) has not been involved in solo music since releasing Get Lit, following his 2005 studio album Lost and Found.

On Friday morning, Smith shared a clip of himself playing the piano song “You Can Make It” on social media, with the caption: “In my darkest moments, music has been there for me, lifted me up and helped me. I will grow and it will do the same for you. I humbly hope that it brings you the joy and light you deserve.”

Two years ago, the American actor became angry at Oscars host Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and went on stage to slap the famous host.

Following the scandal, Smith faced enormous public pressure, resigned from the Academy and was banned from attending the Oscars.
