Swedish Media Corporation Modern Times Group (MTG) will sell Nova TV, Swedish publication Dagens Industries reports that the company and its other operations in Bulgaria.

MTG intends to end its operations in Eastern Europe and focus on the domestic market. The idea is to move away from traditional television and towards digital platforms for sharing video content.

The decision is expected to be made after early 2017 MTG announces closure Distributed in the Czech Republic and the Baltic States. Now it’s Bulgaria’s turn.

A new TV will be sold in a few weeks. The buyer’s name is not yet known.

MTG acquired Nova TV for about 620 million euros in 2008. According to sources at Dagens Industries, the sale price is expected to be around 100 million euros, i.e. more than six times lower.

Through Nova TV, MTG has acquired majority and minority stakes in online companies such as Netinfo, Grabo, ebag and Broshura.bg over the years.
